Amanda King joined the St. Luke team in February of 2022. She holds a Master of Science in Educational Studies focused on child development and literacy education, as well as a Master of Social Work focused on counseling children and families. She has worked professionally with children and families for over a decade. The bulk of her experience is in early childhood education. Amanda delights in teaching preschool because she is passionate about social-emotional learning. She loves working at St. Luke, as the I.B. Teaching Style and charity-driven Catholic mission embody her core values. Amanda grew up in Upstate New York, in the Snowbelt. Her maternal grandparents were devout Catholics; she went to Mass with them on many occasions and was baptized and confirmed at the former St. Francis de Sales Church in Utica, New York, under Fr. Fred Daly. She lived in Portland, Oregon, for seven years. She has two adorable rescue cats, Wren and Petunia. Amanda enjoys arts and crafts, reading non-fiction, and rock-hounding. She handmakes earrings—you have likely seen her and other staff wearing her designs!
