Make sure you include the following in your introductory paragraph, in order:
1) Hook – Grab the readers attention with any of the following:
-An interesting quote
-A thought provoking question
-An interesting fact
*Make sure these things obviously relate to your paper’s topic.
2) Write a supporting sentence, or two, that support(s) the hook you just wrote, and explain how it is related to what your paper is about.
3) Thesis Statement – Be sure to write ONE solid sentence that explains what the paper is about. Make sure your thesis statement states what each of your body paragraphs will be about (ie – the two paragraphs you’ve already written for Mrs. Dimock) and don’t be too specific!
