During “Remote Learning” for PYP and MYP students instruction will be facilitated through google classroom assignments, videos and zoom video conferences. Please check that your child is registered in the corresponding Spanish google classroom. GRACIAS 😊

During 2020-2021, our school will offer students from 2nd to 8th grade the opportunity to learn Spanish as a second language through an integrated PYP/ MYP Curriculum.
“Every learner benefits from having access to different languages, and, through that access, to different cultures and perspectives. Acquisition of more than one language enriches personal development and helps international-mindedness.”
Students from 2nd to 8th grade receive Spanish instruction in weekly basis. They are taught 30/60/90 minutes per week and according to the Office of Language and Cultural Education students who receive less than 120 minutes of the target language instruction per week is considered a Foreign Language Exploratory Program (FLEX).
“Exposure to and experience with languages, with all their richness and diversity creates an inquisitiveness about life and learning and a confidence about creating new social interactions. Language provides a vehicle for learners to engage with the world and, in IB World School, to relate to, and accept, responsibility for the mission of the IB.”
Through this program, students will learn basic and useful vocabulary, apply fundamental components of grammar and initiate the development of reading, writing, speaking, and listening skills.
One way I want to engage the students learning is through the use of songs and language games. All learning will address the students’ different learning styles in order to give them the best possibility to be successful. I look forward to working with the students and making language learning a fun and enjoyable experience.
