Curriculum

MYP Curriculum:

As an International Baccalaureate Middle Years Program, teaching practice is centered on IB Philosophy, Principles, and Practices. The following Standards are woven into each unit along with the IB Subject Objectives:

  • Common Core Math Standards
  • Common Core ELA Standards
  • OSPI Social Studies Standards
  • Next Generation Science Standards
  • Archdiocesan Religion Standards
  • Second Step Social and Emotional Learning Standards

Our units of study are guided by inquiry, action, and reflection.

Teaching in an IB program means:

  •       inquiry-based—provoking curiosity in order to structure and sustain exploration
  •       concept-driven—planning and teaching through concepts that are transferable to new contexts
  •       contextualized—reaching beyond the scope of individual subjects to establish relevance
  •       collaborative—promoting effective teamwork and purposeful/productive collaboration
  •       differentiated—providing access to learning for a diversity of learners
  •       informed by assessment—balancing assessment of, and for, learning
