Star Student

Star Student

Each week, we will have a different student featured for our Star Student Spotlight.  Students will be selected randomly from the Star Student container. The week before, your child will be given a packet that they will need to complete about themselves.  Each sheet should have a sentence or two and a picture to illustrate (drawn or an actual picture).  They will also get a paper bag to use to collect a couple of unique items that they will share.

Students can have a total of 12 photos of their choice to display on the Star Student bulletin board.

While your child is the Star Student of the week, each day of the week will consist of an exciting event or activity to honor him or her.  They will be line leaders for the week, be the teacher assistant, and sit on the special chair in the library whenever we are on the carpet.

*Monday: Monday Sharing Sack:  The Star Student, will share the items they collected with their classmates on Monday.  They will also share the information on their favorite sheet.

*Tuesday: Favorite Book:  Star Student brings one of his or her favorite books to share with the class.  Students can read the book aloud to the class if it can be read in less than 10 minutes or give a book talk if the book is longer.

*Wednesday:  Lunch buddy:  If possible, join your child in the auditorium for a special lunch on this day.  You may instead invite a sibling or a favorite relative to be your child’s lunch buddy. You can have the buddy be a surprise or let your child know ahead of time.  You may bring a special lunch for your child if you would like to do so.  If you are unable to make it during our lunch period (           ), please let me know, and I will plan a special lunchtime for your child with a classmate lunch buddy.

*Thursday:  The Star Student will choose something from the treasure box.

*Friday:  Friendship Poster:  The week’s student will be presented with a friendship poster created by their classmates.  The poster will include the student’s name, surrounded by compliments written by their classmates.
