How families live around the world is shaped by their environment

Today we began our winter IB unit where we are studying the central idea: How families live around the world is shaped by their environment.

This unit will be an inquiry into:

  1. The differences and similarities in the world around us
  2. How maps and globes help people navigate land and water
  3. How families traditions vary around the world
  4. Why families lives are shaped by their environment

To start this unit, we did an ‘I see…, I think…, I wonder…’ where we displayed pictures of families from around the world, food from around the world, homes from around the world, etc. and asked the students to reflect on what they see, what the pictures make them think about, and what the pictures make them wonder.

The next few weeks will be an exploration into these inquiries as we cover the world, continent by continent. More to come!
